Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The clinical instructor provides nursing students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and practice the skills identified in the course objectives, using varied teaching methods. This position is responsible for supervising nursing students in the clinical environment. This position is also responsible for evaluating the clinical performance of the student and grading all clinical assignments. In this position, the clinical instructor oversees and provides students with instruction in their designated clinical specialty. Instructors are responsible for keeping accurate clinical records of student’s performance, attendance, and behavior each week. Instructors are responsible for providing weekly verbal and written feedback to students about their clinical performance; completing final clinical evaluation of students overall clinical performance; and maintaining open communication to their course faculty throughout the clinical rotation.

Additional Duties:
- Maintain core clinical nurse educator compliance per requirements of the citywide MOKAN Clinical Orientation Manual ( COM )
- Maintain annual MCC organizational compliance as assigned by the district.
- Attend the two-day Clinical Faculty Academy within the first year of hire.
- Attend clinical orientation shadow day for course.
- Attend required Course clinical orientation day on campus.
- Complete hospital (clinical facility) and unit
onboarding/orientation, computer training, and site-specific
compliance requirements.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Current licensure for professional nursing in Missouri OR holds an RN license in a compact state
- Has never been disciplined in any jurisdiction
- Three (3) years or more of recent clinical experience in at least one of the qualifying fields listed below.
- Current American Heart Association ( AHA ) BLS for healthcare provider two (2) year certification
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
Practice requirements for each specialty nursing course:
- Minimum of three (3) years or more of recent acute clinical experience in OB nursing (for OB course)
- Minimum of three (3) years or more of recent acute clinical experience in Pediatrics nursing (for PED’s course)
- Minimum of three (3) years or more of recent acute clinical experience in medical/surgical nursing (Medical/surgical and MH courses)
