Assist Professor for Speech, Language, and Pathology



Job Summary:

The Assistant Professor for Speech, Language and Pathology is responsible for the continued development and implementation of graduate and undergraduate Communication Sciences and Disorders curricula. As part of the Commination Sciences and Disorders Program, the faculty member will participate in the graduate SLP program accreditation process, contribute to the service of the program, the department, the college, and the University. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for pursuing and achieving excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Pursue and achieve departmental excellence in teaching, research, and service.

  • Serves as a full-time faculty member of the Department of Rehabilitation Services.

  • Participate in development and assessment of curriculum.

  • Conducts scholarly research.

  • Provides service to the department and campus community.

  • Assists with accreditation and program self-assessment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.


  • Qualifications

    Required Education / Experience:

    • Earned terminal degree (Ph.D. or Doctorate) in Speech-Language Pathology/CSD.

    • ASHA certification in Speech-Language Pathology.

    • Texas licensure in SLP or eligibility for licensure.

    • Evidence of an established line of research or potential to establish one.

    • Ability to obtain external funding.

    • A minimum of three (3) years of direct clinical work with adults who have motor speech disorder, Dysphasia, Aphasia, and cognitive communication disorders preferred.

    • Three (3) years of university teaching experience preferred. Doctoral graduates with outstanding record will be considered.

    • Experience with AAC preferred.
