Job Summary
The HR Coordinator will work closely with the HR Business Partners in the daily operations of an HR function within the UWM HR Shared Services. This role requires a strong attention to detail to ensure data integrity and accuracy of information for reporting, payroll, or benefits. The incumbent will be the primary point person for appointment/data entry (HRS), recruitment support in our applicant tracking system, or student employment.

This position will be a point of contact for employees within the campus, schools/colleges or divisions identified as clients on a variety of topics and issues as well as the first point of contact in onboarding a new employee. The incumbent shall have a basic understanding of Human Resources rules, statutes, laws, guidelines, and policies. This position is expected to communicate and work closely with HR Shared Services colleagues and other campus HR staff in a collaborative and professional manner.

Hybrid work options may be available. Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee campus, with requests for remote work considered after the initial training period. Specifics regarding work location requirements will be discussed during the interview process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year experience working in a business office role
  • Experience working with data administration and/or information systems


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource or related field, or equivalent experience, by date of hire
  • Experience working in HR information systems (i.e., Kronos, Peoplesoft, applicant tracking systems, Workday, etc.)
  • Experience working with HR principles and practices in relation to staffing and orientation
  • Experience interacting with diverse populations
  • Experience functioning as a customer resource responding to routine and complex questions
  • Experience working in a public or federal organization
