Assistant Professor of Philosophy

Position Summary:
Monmouth University invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy (specialization in decolonial theory or Latinx philosophy preferred) to begin Fall 2024. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but priority will be given to applications received by January 20, 2024.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand or be ABD with evidence that degree will be completed before beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. At Monmouth, the Philosophy and Religious Studies minors are situated in the Department of History & Anthropology.

The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in philosophy and ethics, the senior-level topic-variable general education course Perspectives, and introductory religious studies. They will also oversee the Philosophy and Religious Studies minors, and lead efforts to promote those minors to students as excellent opportunities to hone critical thinking skills and contemplate timeless questions on the human experience.

The course load is 3/3 for faculty members on the tenure track. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring and academic advising. The duties of the position include pursuing a scholarly agenda in research and publishing, and participating fully in the life of our academic community though departmental and university service.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
