Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Small Business and Technology Development Center ( SBTDC ) has helped North Carolina businesses grow and create new jobs since 1984. The SBTDC provides management counseling and educational services to small and mid-sized businesses. Most of the SBTDC services are free of charge, and all are confidential. By providing entrepreneurs with the tools they need to build and grow successful businesses, the SBTDC positively impacts NC’s economy. The SBTDC offers general business planning and analysis support as well as specialty areas, including international business development, tech commercialization, and government contracting.

Primary Purpose of the Position :
The position would report to the SBTDC Director. The Small Business and Technology Development Center’s Government Contracting Assistance Program ( GCAP ) assists small and midsize businesses with obtaining government contracts by providing comprehensive assistance in selling products and services to local, state, and federal government agencies. Educates business associates on how to obtain contracts by providing comprehensive assistance in selling products and services to local, state, and federal government agencies. The primary goal is to increase the number of businesses capable of participating in the government marketplace. The GCAP is one of many services offered by the Small Business and Technology Development Center ( SBTDC ). The SBTDC has been assisting Nort
Description of Work Continued:
One-on-One Counseling and Technical Assistance-80%: - Provide specialized and professional technical assistance to individuals and businesses that are seeking to pursue and successfully perform under contracting and subcontracting opportunities with federal agencies, state of North Carolina, and local governments.
Design and Delivery of Training Programs-10%: Design and deliver training programs and providing assistance in group settings through seminars and workshops given across the state of North Carolina.
Professional Development 5%: Achieve a minimum of 40 continuing professional education credits annually. Part of the credit is met by attending the annual statewide SBTDC professional development training, attending the spring and fall conferences, & staying current on the changes and developments in contracting and general business.
Other Duties 5%: Complete other tasks as assigned by the State GCAP Director and Regional Center Director at Fayetteville State University.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s degree in business administration and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or a bachelor’s degree in business and five years of relevant work experience preferred. Or bachelor’s degree in business or related field and one year of entrepreneurial experience or three years experience in a management capacity.
