Position Description

The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State University seeks an instructor with expertise in German and ability to teach language, literature, and culture in German at the rank of Lecturer. The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State offers a major and minor in German.

Nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester by semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. The successful candidate will teach at the San Marcos campus and may teach at the Round Rock campus and/or online, depending on the need of the Department.

This posting is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2024/2025 semesters.

All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum requirements include a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in German or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D in German or related field.
  • Previous teaching experience.
