Shenandoah University’s Office of Advancement is accepting applications for an Associate Vice President for Development and Director of Sesquicentennial Campaign. This is a full-time benefited position located in Winchester, Virginia.

The Associate Vice President for Development serves as the team leader for the professional fundraising staff and campaign-related activities associated with the university’s Sesquicentennial to be celebrated in 2025.

The Associate Vice President for Development and Director of Sesquicentennial Campaigns reports directly to the Senior Vice President. This position will be a member of the University Cabinet.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute strategies for various capital, endowment and annual campaigns that define the University’s Sesquicentennial Campaign.
  • Provide leadership for the Major Gifts (including planned gifts) program currently defined as gifts of $50,000 minimum. Will spend a minimum of 40% of time managing a major gift portfolio and making personal calls.
  • Coordinate strategy for the integration of annual giving campaigns, inclusive of personal solicitations, direct mail solicitations and social media marketing.
  • Oversee donor stewardship efforts
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred from a recognized college or university.
  • Minimum of five years relevant management experience with a proven track record of fundraising experience preferably during a capital campaign.
  • Candidate must be a proven leader and strategic thinker with vision and a demonstrated commitment to Shenandoah’s mission.
  • Excellent leader and team builder with top-notch planning and organizational skills is a must.
  • Experience in higher education leading employees and managing budgets is preferred.
