This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for a part-time professional hourly supervising clinical dentist in the Dental Hygiene program at Columbia Basin College.

Columbia Basin College employs hourly employees to meet short-term and intermittent workload needs. Professional Hourly employees have non-student status and are defined as those employees not occupying a budgeted line position (an appointed position) and are by nature temporary, at-will employees.

The length of employment and the number of hours worked per week are undetermined and may be continued or terminated based on funding, workload fluctuations, etc. There is no contract or guarantee of continued employment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide dental supervision in the clinic, dental exams, and prepare fillings for placement by dental hygiene students.
  • Supervise and instruct dental hygiene students during clinical sessions, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients in coordination with dental hygiene students.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and infection control guidelines within the clinic.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all treatments and consultations.
  • Participate in the assessment and evaluation of student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of educational materials and clinical instruction for dental hygiene students.
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to support the educational objectives of the Dental Hygiene program.
  • Stay current with advancements in dental practices and technologies through ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct in all interactions with patients, students, and colleagues.
Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current and valid license to practice dentistry in the state of Washington.
  • 2 years of clinical dental experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in supervising and instructing dental hygiene students or similar roles.
  • Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English; and
  • Experience working with and supporting under served students and patients including low income, first-generation, and people of color.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in dental practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant state and federal regulations related to dental practice and education.
