Executive Director, Career & Experiential Learning Center

The successful candidate will serve as the campus champion for the strategic goal focused on career readiness and lead the implementation and assessment of the initiatives under this goal.
  • Student Career Readiness Development: Develop a four-year career readiness/experiential learning curriculum focused on self-discovery, exploration, soft-skills development, and preparation for transition from college to career and professional life.
  • Experiential Learning: Foster opportunities to develop and enhance our service learning, internships, apprenticeships, student leadership, and job guarantee programming.
  • Global Education: Lead and enhance our study abroad programming and strategic partnerships, global internships, collaborative online international learning (COIL), and serve our international students onboarding, support, and compliance.

Essential Functions:

The successful candidate will prioritize student development by fostering a dedicated focus on career readiness, global education, and experiential learning. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives aimed at empowering students to excel in their academic and professional pursuits. The Career and Experiential Learning Center will launch the Curry Commitment Program, an opt-in program that guarantees students employment within six months of graduation upon successful completion. The successful candidate will be tasked with forging strategic partnerships among academic departments, student affairs offices, alumni, and industry leaders to collaboratively design initiatives tailored to support students' professional development and career readiness. The Executive Director will manage and grow Curry Connectors, strategic business and industry partners of the College. Additionally, the Executive Director will also oversee global programming, including short-term study-away faculty led programming and 15-week study abroad opportunities. The Center serves incoming and continuing international students through onboarding and support throughout the student's enrollment.

Responsibilities:

1. Administrative:
  • In collaboration with the Associate Provost for Student Success and Retention, determine annual and ongoing priorities for the Center.
  • Serve as champion to the collegewide strategic plan goal on career readiness implementing programming, initiatives, partnerships, and assessment.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, staff, faculty, and employers.
  • Lead the Center in strategic planning efforts. Encourage and plan professional development activities for Center personnel.
  • Supervise all staff/personnel in the Career and Experiential Learning Center.
  • Establish policies and procedures, update student and faculty guides, prepare regular reports, and collect and analyze research data relevant to career planning, global education, international students, placements of students and alumni, and graduation outcomes.
  • Develop a system for collecting, tracking, and reporting student job placement outcomes.
  • Prepare the annual operating budget and monitor monthly activity.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to outreach and marketing.
  • Ensure maintenance and updates to all online systems / programs and work closely with the webmaster to maintain/update the department website.
  • Design and implement program assessment of all department programs and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

2. Career Center Services and Experiential Learning:
  • Oversee development and implementation of the Career Readiness 4-year program.
  • Develop annual reporting focused on student job placement outcomes.
  • Design and oversee the implementation of the Curry Commitment Program.
  • Manage the Curry Connectors, strategic business and industry partners of the College.
  • Identify student needs for information and advising on career planning, employment, graduate schools, and scholarships. In collaboration with staff, create programs, services, and publications to meet those needs.
  • Manage outreach and services to students regarding career planning and global programming assistance through appointments with individuals, online assistance, and regularly scheduled workshops with groups as needed.
  • Network with faculty, Academic Chairs, and School Deans to foster further collaboration.

3. Global Studies and International Student Services:
  • Oversee and develop global programs and faculty-led short-term study-away initiatives. This includes maintaining and developing global partners.
  • Ensure holistic faculty development for leading short term global programs.
  • Oversee compliance and development of contracts with international providers.
  • Lead services and compliance for new and continuing international students studying at Curry College.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree by the time of appointment, from an accredited college or university.
  • 5-7 years of higher education experience with an emphasis on career or experiential education roles.
  • Experience with program development, implementation, and delivery models serving the needs of students in the liberal arts as well as professional schools.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, act collaboratively, and lead organizational change.
  • Ability to identify and set key performance indicators and interpret data used in decision-making.
  • Evidence of success in developing regional and national businesses as partners for student employment and long-term career development.
  • Familiarity with current best practices in experiential learning, including student development and leadership, career readiness, and global programming.
  • Experience managing resources, including budget and technology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity in an educational setting, including meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Evidence of leading organizational growth and change.
  • Knowledge of effective assessment strategies to inform programs and practice.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 plus years of leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Experience with global programming/international student support.
  • Experience representing a college or university in large-scale programs and with employer partners, students, faculty, and alumni.

Salary Range:

$100,000 to $110,000 annually
