Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography
The Photography I Video program within the School of Art at the University of Houston, a Tier One public research university, seeks applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography I Video position to begin fall 2024. This is a full-time, one-year contract. The program seeks candidates with the potential for excellence in teaching and a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, graduate, and undergraduate population. The successful candidate will have an active fine art practice at the forefront of contemporary art.
Situated in the School of Art in the Katherine G. McGovern College of the Arts, the Photography Program supports a dynamic group of graduates and undergraduates actively engaged with fine art and conceptual aspects of lens-based and other media-based processes. Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced courses as well as departmental service to the Photography I Video program. The successful candidate should be able to teach a variety of foundation, intermediate, and advanced courses. The teaching load is three courses in both the fall and spring semesters.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications
MFA in Studio Arts
Preferred Qualifications
Active exhibitions record and other evidence of creative/critical practice and experience teaching college-level courses. Familiarity with art history and contemporary photography and video and proficiency with foundation and advanced media practices are ideal. The successful candidate will also be able to work effectively with the University of Houston's diverse student population and support an institutional commitment to inclusiveness.
