TITLE: Quality Assurance Coordinator

Department Reports to: Vice President for Academic Affairs

Faculty Reports to: Dean of Nursing

SUMMARY : The Quality Assurance Coordinator position is an educationally and experientially qualified nurse with curriculum and established history of nursing program curriculum development and implementation, and quality initiatives. In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing, the Quality Assurance Coordinator position provides direction and leadership in nursing education to support the mission, purpose, and objectives of the Anna Maria College nursing programs. The Quality Assurance Coordinator position provides guidance and support in the areas of the student programmatic success; nursing program curriculum assessment, development, and compliance with accreditation (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing [ACEN]) and approval (Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing [MA BORN]) requirements, faculty development, and graduate licensure success (NCLEX-RN).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES :

In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and the nursing faculty, the Quality Assurance Coordinator position will:

Student Programmatic Success
  • Assess learners’ nursing knowledge, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of individualized study plan for nursing program success.
  • Coordinate and provide individualized and group instruction in nursing content and test-taking/critical-thinking strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate creative programs to foster:
    • Effective use of the nursing program external academic support product (Assessment Technologies Institute [ATI]).
    • Student programmatic success.
    • Achievement of retention and graduation program outcome benchmarks.
Nursing Program Curriculum:
  • Assist the nursing faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula that:
    • Support the mission, purpose, and objectives of the Anna Maria College nursing programs.
    • Comply with approval (MA BORN) and accreditation requirements (ACEN).
    • Reflect best practice in theoretical and clinical learning.
    • Support students’ achievement of retention and graduation program outcome benchmarks.
    • Promote achievement of the first-time NCLEX-RN program outcome benchmark.
  • Develop reports, studies, and proposals specific to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation; including but not limited to, SPEs, MA BORN and ACEN annual reports, academic risks and NCLEX-RN success statistics.
Faculty Development:
  • Assess faculty learning needs specific to nursing program curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Plan, develop, and present educational programs to the nursing faculty to support best practice in nursing education.
  • Assist faculty to develop and implement:
    • Dynamic classroom and clinical learning experiences.
    • Learning experiences to augment classroom and clinical learning (e.g. web-based learning: Anna Maria College online learning management system, Assessment Technologies Institute [ATI], course textbook online textbook support).
  • Assist the faculty to develop and implement effective measures of student attainment of learning objectives across the nursing program curriculum.
  • Assist the faculty to explore resources to support best practice in nursing education.
Graduate Licensure Success:
  • Develop implement, and evaluate creative programs to promote:
    • Achievement of the first-time NCLEX-RN program outcome benchmark.
    • Licensure success for graduates that have failed the NCLEX-RN.
Teaching:
  • Teach lecture, clinical, or a Simulation/lab as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO REACH ACCEPTABLE PERFORMANCE :
  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse in good standing.
  • Earned master’s degree in nursing from an accredited (ACEN, CCNE) nursing program required.
  • PhD in nursing, EdD, or nursing doctorate (Doctor Nursing Science or Doctor of Nursing Practice) is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years full-time nursing experience, or its equivalent within the last eight years, with at least three years’ experience in nursing education.
  • Documented experience in:
    • Nursing program development.
    • Data Management
    • Learning Management System (LMS) systems
    • Nursing program accreditation.
    • Classroom and clinical instruction.
    • Development and implementation of programs to promote student success.
