Position Summary

Digital Rhetorician

The Allan K. Smith Center for Writing and Rhetoric at Trinity College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable, faculty position with opportunities for advancement, beginning fall 2025. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in first year composition and digital rhetoric. Teaching load is 3/2. Initial three-year contract with 4-5 year contracts upon renewal. We seek a faculty member with a clearly demonstrated area of expertise in digital rhetoric who embraces an inclusive pedagogy and can teach professional and technical writing in the context of a liberal arts college. The successful applicant will join a vibrant Writing Program and be expected develop courses in their area of expertise, serve on college and program committees, advise students, and provide expertise in composition pedagogy to faculty and students across disciplines.

Please submit a letter of application, C.V., teaching statement, including the approach to teaching students from diverse backgrounds, two sample syllabi (one for an introductory composition course and one for an introductory course in digital rhetoric or related area, combined as one document), graduate school transcripts, and contact information for three individuals who will provide letters of recommendation.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition by September 1, 2025 (also considered: Ph.D. in English or related field with significant coursework or research in rhetoric and composition as well as teaching experience).
