Position Summary:
A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the Sensory Neurobiology and Pain Research Lab in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Virginia Commonwealth University. We study the molecular mechanisms and neural circuits underlying sensory neuroplasticity and visceral pain with an emphasis on glia-neuron and immune-neuron interactions. We examine the contributory factors involved in sensory neuron crosstalk, and visceral and somatic organs cross-sensitization. We implement state-of-the-art techniques including but not limit to neuronal tracing, cell culture, live cell imaging, and biochemical and behavioral approaches and utilize unique transgenic mice. Competitive candidates should possess a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree, and have curiosity, interests, and motivation to strive in basic science research.
