Job Summary/Basic Function
The Assistant Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting with coaching and recruiting, instructing, and coordinating various program related activities. The Assistant Basketball Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Bay College and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of three (3) years High School or Collegiate playing or coaching experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sports program.
• Knowledge of athletic recruitment, methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of NJCAA regulations and guidelines governing recruitment and retention of student athletes.
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to lead and guide student-athletes.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
• Ability to adapt to change in processes and procedures.
• Enthusiastic, people oriented, a winning attitude.
• Passion for results.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Prior higher education recruiting experience

EQUIPMENT USED : Computer, recruiting and statistic software, shooting and rebounding machines, stopwatch, basketballs, scoreboard, score clock, possession arrow, weights, free weights, and cardio machines.

Teach sport skills, condition and motivate student-athletes to positive action and utilize effective strategies to produce a successful student experience.
Job Duty
Assist with recruitment of a sufficient number of new student-athletes annually and retain current student-athletes, in accordance with NJCAA rules and regulations, through scouting, attending games/tournaments, and home visits.

Assist in planning, preparation and administration of practice plans and competition strategy plans.

Assist with all aspects, areas, and components of the Norse basketball program.

Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the community.

Support all college efforts for student completion.
