Job Summary/Basic Function

The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach is responsible for assisting with coaching, instructing, and coordinating various program related activities. The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Bay College and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years High School or Collegiate playing or coaching experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the sports program.
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to lead and guide student-athletes.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
• Ability to adapt to change in processes and procedures.
• Enthusiastic, people oriented, a winning attitude.
• Passion for results.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree preferred
• Knowledge of athletic recruitment, methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of NJCAA regulations and guidelines governing recruitment and retention of student athletes.

EQUIPMENT USED : Computer, recruiting and statistics software, Stopwatch, volleyballs, nets, standards, scoreboard, weights, free weights, and cardio machines.

Assist in planning, preparation and administration of practice plans and competition strategy plans.

Assist with all aspects, areas, and components of the Norse basketball program.

Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the community.

Support all college efforts for student completion.

Job Duty

Assist with recruitment of a sufficient number of new student-athletes annually and retain current student-athletes, in accordance with NJCAA rules and regulations, through scouting, attending games/tournaments, and home visits.
