Position Summary:
The Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho invites applications for a full-time, Temporary Faculty of Guitar, a nine-month appointment beginning August 12, 2024 and ending May 10, 2025. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate studio guitar, coaching guitar ensemble, and instructing the guitar portion of our undergraduate string methods course. Other courses may be determined by applicant’s qualifications and/or departmental needs. The successful candidate may choose to perform in the Palouse Jazz Project (faculty jazz ensemble). This position is expected to actively recruit and retain students, participate in School of Music committees and events, and mentor students.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience as a guitar studio teacher;
  • Experience performing at a professional level.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in music;
  • Experience teaching guitar at the collegiate level;
  • Ability to teach other courses depending on the needs of the department and the applicant’s qualifications;
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students;
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills with a flexible attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
