The Office of Career Services at Governors State University is seeking a Career Counselor - Extra Help to provide guidance and support to GovState students and alumni in navigating their career development and decision-making processes. The career counselor will assist students and alumni in exploring their interests, skills, values, and goals to identify suitable career paths and make informed career-related decisions. They utilize various assessment tools, counseling techniques, and resources to help clients gain self-awareness, clarify career objectives, and develop action plans to achieve their career aspirations. Additionally, the career counselor will offer expertise in job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and networking to help students and alumni successfully navigate the job market to maximize opportunities to secure employment aligned with their interests and qualifications.
  • This position requires two on campus days per week for a total of 15 hours.

  • This is a temporary assignment which will end when these services are no longer needed.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
  • Requirement: Master’s in Counseling or Psychology OR 3-5 years experience in Career Counseling with a Bachelor's degree
  • Preference given to someone that has past experience as a Career Counselor or similar role.
