Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, assist with the coordination of technical maintenance work and installation services rendered by skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers in the residence halls, ensuring that priority is given to resolve heat, hot water, lock and door issues.
  • Perform general maintenance, troubleshoots problems and repairs, such as relocating furniture, light bulb replacements, and replace ceiling tiles.
  • Perform administrative and record keeping functions including but not limited to keys, equipment, supplies and the department’s work order tracking system.
  • Escort vendors that provide service to the department ensuring that they are following service contracts.
  • Interact with various internal and external customers to refer/resolve problems associated with assigned work activities.
  • Inspect supplies and materials on a regular basis to ensure that there is adequate inventory to maintain department needs.
  • Perform monthly walk-through assessments of each residence hall, with attention to fixtures, cleaning, pest issues, lighting, etc.
  • Respond to emergency facilities issues as necessary in conjunction with the Facilities Specialist.
  • Assist with end of year assessment and move-in preparation.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Specialist, Director of Residence Life, Dean of Students and Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs on special projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education

Appropriate vocational training in related areas as necessary.

Experience

A minimum of (3) years of working experience in a field related to the functions of this position: such as facilities or building maintenance.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of a variety of building construction or maintenance and repair practices and techniques used in a residential environment. Ability to address multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines and project plans with short- and long-term end dates. Ability to provide customer service to internal and external customers. Ability to use a computer and utilize work order tracking systems.

Conditions of Employment

The incumbent of this position is required to work a minimum of 40-hours workweek, Monday-Friday, with extended hours as needed during peak times.
