Job Description:

THIS POSITION IS FOR STUDENTS OF AMERICAN UNIVERSITY.

Summary:

SIS Online Programs is currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Part-Time Economics Tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide academic support to students enrolled in SISG-773 Introduction to Economic Theory , SISG-764 International Economics , and SISG-77 4 Understanding Global Economics and Markets . As a tutor, you will conduct weekly group sessions via Zoom and offer personalized one-on-one assistance to students seeking additional help. The successful candidate must have excelled in SISG-764 International Economics and possess a high-level understanding of micro- and macro-economic principles. This is a part-time, remote position offering flexible hours, with a commitment of approximately five to ten hours per week , with the possibility of increased hours during peak academic periods.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct weekly group tutoring sessions via Zoom for students enrolled in SISG-773 Introduction to Economic Theory, SISG-764 International Economics, and SISG-77 4 Understanding Global Economics and Markets

  • Provide personalized one-on-one tutoring to students requiring additional assistance.

  • Assist students in understanding micro- and macro-economic principles .

  • Collaborate with students to enhance their comprehension of course material .

  • Stay updated on the curriculum and assignments for SISG-7 73, SISG-764, and SISG-774 .

  • Adapt tutoring techniques to cater to diverse learning styles and academic backgrounds.

  • Be available for additional contact hours during high-volume periods like midterms and finals.

  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.

Compensation:
  • $17.75/hour.

Requirements:
  • Successful completion of SISG-764 or SIS-616 International Economics with a grade of A- or higher.

  • Strong understanding of micro- and macro-economic principles.

  • Prior experience tutoring students remotely in economics is highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively explain complex concepts.

  • Ability to conduct effective online tutoring sessions via Zoom.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Reliability and punctuality in meeting scheduled tutoring sessions.

  • Currently enrolled as a graduate student at the university.
