Job Description:

Under the Director of Student Employment assist in the administration of the Student Employment Office with campus partners to deliver a comprehensive federal and institutional student employment program. The role works to ensure regulatory compliance and community engagement with federal work study and non-federal work study student workers. Assist in student employment operations, including the hiring process, position management, training and support. Will assist in the Workday implementation, working with Financial Aid, HR and Payroll and other campus partners to ensure the new system is appropriately configured to support the program.

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the administration of the Student Employment Office, including management of job listings, student hiring, monitoring FWS earnings and ensuring compliance with state and federal employment law and Federal Work-Study program regulations

  • Assist in maintaining the online student career site including liaising between Workday, Human Resources and Financial Aid

  • Assist in hiring student employees including on-boarding and Workday reporting

  • Provides training to supervisors of student employees; assist supervisors to trouble-shoot and resolve work-related issues

  • Monitors Federal Work Study limits; notifying students and supervisors when limits are close or met; terminating positions when limits are reached

  • Manage data pertaining to student employment, including running and reviewing reports regarding payroll, federal work study and compliance

  • Assist as a liaison between the Student Employment Office and on and off campus partners to ensure best practices

  • Support the improvement of student success and career readiness through student campus work opportunities

  • Participate in continued professional development in the field of financial aid and student employment by engaging in professional associations

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred); 3-5 years’ experience in college or university financial aid administration or student employment administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

  • Experience and understanding of federal and university financial aid and human resources policies preferred, but not required

  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work, maintain quality output and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff individually, in groups and in public forums

  • Project management skills. Advanced written and verbal communication skills. Possesses advanced customer service skills.

  • Proficiency with standard office software. Knowledge of common University applications and programs preferred (Workday, PowerFAIDS, Banner)

  • Ability to work independently; Advanced critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in building and sustaining relationships at a range of levels
