Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum and Educational Planning in the College of Education and Behavioral Studies (CEBS) the Manager of Academic Quality is responsible for ensuring high academic quality of CEBS various flex programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. This is accomplished by overseeing various functions within the college including adjunct Course Development management, active course management, curriculum implementation, and adjunct faculty management.

Position Responsibilities

A. Course Development Management
  • Works with the Director of Curriculum and the CTLT team to help manage the development of new flex courses in the program (course resources, links, video management and assessment)
  • Creates, updates and coordinates schedule for course and program design in consultation with CTLT
  • Ensures development and availability of all CEBS flex coursework resources to enable video editing and course completion
  • Onboards flex course developers in CEBS and manage fulfilled of flex projects
  • Communicates with SMEs and flex course developers to help ensure timely course completion
  • Ensures and informs multimedia production for flex coursework
  • Creates and build out new courses in the LMS for to ensure consistency and timely completion
  • Incorporates educational technology into courses to broaden user experience
  • Assists with video editing as needed

B. Active Course Management
  • Manages the evaluation and revision of all CEBS flex courses.
  • Oversees the communication flow for stakeholders of active courses in CEBS’s online programs (i.e., instructors, students, and internal EU offices/departments)
  • Oversees the creation of course resources as dictated by curriculum developers and faculty including Brightspace (LMS) templates/shells, syllabi based on the CEBS template, and other external learning tools such as Cengage course platforms and simulation
  • Evaluates instructor interaction, consistency, and activity in active courses.
  • Ensures existing flex courses are updated and refreshed on a consistent basis according to CEBS’ needs.
  • Addresses student concerns and technical problems in active courses by coordinating efforts with faculty, CTLT, educational technology vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Manages course-copy and updating of CEBS flex courses with every 7-week term
  • Communicates with program directors and adjunct instructors about status and availability of flex shells term to term.

C. Assisting Curriculum Implementation
  • Assists with implementation of curriculum changes in the LMS as determined through program evaluation processes
  • Addresses curriculum quality concerns either directly or by escalating the concern to the appropriate level/individual
  • Helps to analyze flex feedback data to improve course design for all courses, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule
  • Helps to oversee and task course shepherds or adjunct instructors to initiate curriculum fixes in flex master courses

D. Adjunct Faculty Management
  • Serving as the primary LMS point of contact for CEBS adjuncts
  • Helps to oversee adjunct faculty hiring, on-boarding, and training
  • Assists in onboarding new adjuncts in CEBS re: Brightspace development and curriculum needs
  • Develops and manages systems for adjunct faculty tracking, engagement, evaluation, communication
  • Communicates and enforces academic standards and expectations with instructors and curriculum developers
  • Communicates with CEBS adjunct instructors about policy and technology changes in flex coursework

E. Miscellaneous
  • Assisting with special projects for the development and growth of the college
  • Establishing and maintaining academic standards for curriculum, instruction, and student work by facilitating decision making with college academic leadership
  • Maintaining current knowledge of instructional technology and best practices especially as pertains to EU’s online/LifeFlex courses
  • Understanding and following FERPA regulations
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

A. Education
  • Minimum requirement undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • MEd or related graduate degree preferred

C. Experience and skills
  • Prior experience in operations and/or project management highly preferred
  • Prior experience in online course or curriculum development (K-12 or Higher Ed)

  • Demonstrated analytical reasoning and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills as a systems thinker
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Working knowledge of web- and classroom-based learning technologies
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database tools
