$48,000 - $60,000

Description of Duties

The SUNY Canton Counseling Center seeks a counselor for a full-time, 11-month position. Qualified applicants will have demonstrated clinical and outreach experience working with a diverse population.

Responsibilities
  • The counselor will provide personal/group counseling, assessment interviews, and community & on-campus referrals, along with delivering educational programs to staff and students.
  • Services will be implemented via face-to-face and telehealth services. Counselor will perform crisis interventions as needed.
  • Counselor will perform other related duties such as assisting with development & implementation of relevant programming to the campus community, consultation with other departments, and training of other college staff members.
  • Some evening and weekend hours are required.
  • The counselor will maintain licensure during the course of employment and participate in ongoing training to provide quality therapeutic interventions.
Qualifications

Required:
  • NYS licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychoanalyst, or current permit holder able to obtain licensure as a LMHC within one year of start date.
Preferred :
  • Experience with college and/or diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, crisis interventions skills, and educational programming.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
