Director of Teacher Education Services and Certification Closing Date:

Job Duties:
The Director of Teacher Education Services, Certification, and Field Experiences position is responsible for administrative activities related to the Teacher Education Services Department to include Field Experiences, Internship Experiences, and Teacher Certification. This position has a high level of supervisory activities and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Education.

Leadership & Supervision
•Serve as a member of the College of Education Leadership Team.
•Provide administrative leadership for the Teacher Education Services Department.
•Support daily operations of the Teacher Education Services Department.
•Hire, train, and assign Intern Supervisors each semester.
•Provide supervision and evaluation of all Teacher Education Services staff.
•Supervise the Field Experience and Internship placements.
•Provide administrator level support to the College of Education Dean.
External Relations
•Organize meetings with P12 school partners.
•Attend Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (ALACTE) meetings.
•Attend Certification Officers and Personnel in Education (COPE) meetings.
•Attend Educator Preparation Improvement Continuously (EPIC) meetings.
Program Management & Compliance
•Serve as the designated ALSDE Certification Officer.
•Responsible for the completion and submission of student certification packets to the Ste Department of Education.
•Organize and conduct the Certification Seminar fall and spring semesters.
•Oversee and update all areas of the Teacher Education Services website.
•Oversee the Teacher Education Program (TEP) application procedures.
•Oversee updates to Alabama State Department Approved Program Checklists for all majors that lead the certification.
•Oversee Praxis, Foundations of Reading, Title II and edTPA test data ALSDE revisions.
•Identify opportunities for process improvement.
Committee Participation & Governance
•Serve as the Chair of the Substitution Committee.
•Serve as a member of the Curriculum Committee for COE.
•Serve as the Chair of the Professional Review Board in COE.
Administrative Support & Collaboration
•Approve monthly time sheets for Teacher Education Services staff members.
•Update Internship Observation Record documentation prior to Internship Seminars.
•Maintain an “open door” to internal and external customers.
•Identify opportunities for improvements to work practices and offers viable solutions for implementation.
•Proactively engages in problem-solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people.
•Routinely practice self-monitoring by assessing self to make improvements or take corrective action to improve performance.
•Completes other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Qualifications Required:
•Master’s degree in education.
•Evidence of a collegial leadership style.
•Ability to organize and work independently.
•Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain positive working relationships.

Other Qualifications Required:
•Experience with accreditation requirements
•Experience with the Alabama State Department of Education Teacher Certification process.
•Experience using Banner and Excel preferred
•Experience with database software and Argos preferred

Salary Schedule:
Salary Band: P545To view salary schedules visit: will be Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
