Job Description

The Office of Student Involvement (OSI) Coordinator of Engagement & Leadership serves a vital role in providing support, engagement, and leadership opportunities for new students at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. This position serves as the primary resource person for co-curricular engagement programs and services geared toward new and transfer student populations. The Coordinator of Engagement & Leadership creates and implements programming to support academic and leadership development and guides students and campus partners to engage with student involvement at the university. The coordinator is responsible for advising the National Society of Leadership and Success, Alpha Lambda Delta and Tau Sigma Honor Societies. The position reports directly to the Director of Student Involvement.

Key Duties Include
  • Design and implement welcome programming, including Weeks of Welcome in the fall and spring, in line with institutional goals and needs while supporting student transition and success
  • Design and implement student leadership programs geared toward first year and transfer student populations – Emerging Leaders, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with key campus partners, including New Student Programs, Student Success and Student Affairs units, to welcome and support students in their transition to campus
  • Advise Alpha Lambda Delta, Tau Sigma and the National Society of Leadership and Success in planning and implementation of recruitment activities, educational and social programming, and process development
  • Coordinate service initiatives run out of the Office of Student Involvement – blood drives, campus clean ups, MLK Week of Service, etc.
  • Serve as the primary representative for Student Involvement on the New Student Programs Committee, Recruitment/Yield Committee, and other campus-wide collaboratives designed to support new students in their transition to campus
  • Supervise and develop student staff by modeling effective practices, including training, team development, and consistent feedback
  • Manage communication strategies, including social media, to engage with new students, market programs and build institutional affinity
  • Oversee the administrative functions including website maintenance and annual reporting
  • Engage in a practice of on-going assessment of the student leaders, projects and programs in conjunction with Office of Student Involvement staff

Shift

40 hours a week. M-F, 8am – 5pm normally – some nights and weekends required. All hours outside of business hours can be flexed in employee’s schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in College Student Development, Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field
  • Affiliation with an inter/national fraternal organization
  • Demonstrated experience working with Greek-letter organizations, including multicultural organizations such as NPHC
  • Demonstrated experience working with student organizations and/or student involvement
  • Knowledge of legal issues in higher education and risk management practices
  • Experience supervising student staff or graduate assistants
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $22.25 Hourly ($46,280.00 annually)
