Instructional Video Editor - Part-Time

Position Description

Eastern University is seeking a part-time video editor (5 hours/week) with experience in editing and online teaching. This position will support the design and development of engaging, learner-centered undergraduate and graduate courses, modules, and materials in Kaltura. The instructional designer will work in conjunction with subject matter experts and the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology to create engaging lectures and coursework.

The candidate must exhibit extensive knowledge of relevant technologies and the principles and theories of adult learning. Teaching experience is preferred, as is a familiarity with D2L/Brightspace.

Position Responsibilities

• Virtually meet with faculty to establish the desired feel and look for the video to be created
• Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software and ensure each was updated in the correct format
• Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects
• Improve video and sound quality using various video software
• Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, sound clips and other important aspects of the project
• Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos according to faculty’s specification

Qualifications

• Previous video editing training/experience preferred
• Regular use of a computer and expertise with the following software: Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be familiar with video-capturing and editing technology. Experience with Zoom, Kaltura and/or Camtasia are a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent time management skills and strong ability to prioritize and multitask
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
