Job Details

This full-time, tenure-track position to teaches Criminal Justice courses in a variety of modes (in-person, hybrid, and online) at a variety of times. The ideal candidate demonstrates commitment to student-centered teaching and curricular development for a diverse student body at an inclusive institution. This individual evaluates and develops individual syllabi for courses and overall Criminal Justice curriculum. They assist with departmental strategic planning, program reviews, and outcomes assessments and remain current in pedagogical, technological, and content-area best practices. They participate in departmental, divisional, and college-wide initiatives.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach a full load of fifteen (15.0) contact hours per week (in load) in discipline courses at any of the three college locations.
  • Teach courses in Criminal Justice Program, including daytime, evening, online, hybrid, and/or dual enrollment schedules.
  • Collaborate with other program faculty and staff to use assessment techniques to maximize the effectiveness of instruction and student success.
  • Develop and evaluate curricula appropriate to the different learning needs of students as well as develop student learning outcomes.
  • Provide a classroom environment that promotes and stimulates learning for every student.
  • Use and stay abreast of current pedagogies and technologies that are effective in a diverse classroom.
  • Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Serve as a member of division, college, and district committees.
  • Perform other professional duties as required by contract or divisional and institutional needs.
  • Required to hold three (3) on campus office hours per week to answer students’ questions related to course content.
  • Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Dean or other designated management.


Education:  Master’s Degree in assigned discipline or equivalent 

Experience:  One year of college level Teaching Experience in assigned discipline or equivalent

Successful candidates will hold at minimum a master’s degree in criminal justice, with a preference to a Ph.D. in a related social science field.

  • Demonstrate a strong record of teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in the field of criminal justice or a related social science field.
  • Excellent ability to explain concepts in the assigned discipline.
  • Student Centered Approach to student learning and outcomes
  • Ability to communicate with the students, faculty and staff.
