Position Overview: San Francisco Bay University is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Provost Reporting to the Provost and a key member of the Provost’s leadership team, the Associate Provost leads efforts in fostering student academic engagement, achievement, academic progress, and completion. The Associate Provost extends the reach and presence of the Provost, serving as a front-line student success resource and directly supports students, faculty, and administration.

The Associate Provost provides high-level, comprehensive, and confidential advice and assistance to the Provost and other Vice Presidents on a broad range of academic and administrative issues both internal and external to the campus requiring the exercise of judgment and independent initiative. The Associate Provost works closely with the Provost to develop, implement, and administer SFBU academic policies, plans, and programs.



The Associate Provost fosters assessment, continuous improvement, student well-being, curricular innovation and implementation, diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, and other high-impact practices by regularly interfacing with SFBU constituencies. The Associate Provost provides tactical leadership in the day-to-day operations of academic programs including course scheduling, faculty teaching assignments, academic standards, and serving as the final adjudicator of student appeals regarding faculty concerns and/or the administration of academic policy.



Responsibilities: The Associate Provost is a 12-month administrative position with no teaching expected. However, occasional teaching in the candidate’s area of expertise or within the core curriculum will be considered from time-to-time. SFBU courses are offered every term, (i.e., fall, spring, summer). Classes are capped at 25 students per course.

Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues on the development of the core curriculum ensuring alignment with disciplinary and community/industry needs and emerging trends, making sure our students are well-prepared for their academic and professional careers.



Advisement and Mentorship: Provide advising support to faculty as they work with students to foster their holistic growth, wellness, academic success, and career readiness.



Inclusive Education: Implement innovative and inclusive best practices that reflect our core value of providing access and inclusion to a diverse student body.



Engagement: Foster student engagement through collaboration with practitioners, organizations, and community/industry professionals to help students gain practical experience through internships, student-engaged research projects, and partnerships.

Quality Improvement: Actively support faculty in course and program-level assessment design, data collection, review, and reporting.



Service: Serve on various committees within academic affairs and/or at the institutional level. These committees may be related to curriculum development, student affairs, faculty governance, or administrative decision-making.



Required Qualifications:

● Earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited university.

● Successful, full-time, previous higher education teaching experience and demonstrated commitment to excellence in pedagogy.

● Successful previous higher education administrative experience in a role such as Chairperson, Dean, Associate Vice President, or Associate Provost.

● Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior administrators, colleagues, students, and community partners.

● Highly developed emotional intelligence and polished executive presence.

● Strong analytical and quantitative abilities and attention to detail.

● Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and practice.



Salary

The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $156,000
