Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Position : Adjunct Lecturer
Department : Computer Science
Classification : Part-time, Non-benefit eligible
Brief overview of duties :
Benedictine University is seeking experienced and academically qualified adjunct instructors to teach 1-3 computer science lecture courses each semester at our Lisle, IL campus. Common courses include Computer Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Object-Oriented Design and Programming, and Computer Architecture, though upper-division elective courses may be available depending on the instructor's expertise. We especially welcome applicants with experience in data mining/data analytics, AI, machine learning, and web app development, though
all backgrounds will be considered.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related field is required.
Programming experience in Java is required; programming experience in Python is highly desired. Prior teaching experience at the high-school and college level is highly desired.
Candidates must be available to teach in-person at our Lisle, IL campus, though some limited opportunities may be offered to teach online.

Physical Requirements : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Use of computer screen, phone and customer service.
May require bending, or sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Training : As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
