Job Summary:

The Vice President for Institutional Enrollment collaborates with the President, the President’s Council, the Board of Trustees, the faculty, and the university at large in conceiving, directing, coordinating, updating, and implementing a series of dynamic and cutting-edge institutional enrollment functions. Enrollment refers to recruitment and retention; thus, the Vice President for Institutional Enrollment is the University’s senior administrator who is ultimately responsible for identifying, recruiting, attracting, admitting, yielding, and retaining all students matriculated at the university; from dual-credit, undergraduates, to graduates. The VPIE ensures enrollment (recruitment and retention) integration by being highly collaborative with various constituents, developing collaborative working relationships with every senior leader, every faculty and staff, and is consistently outward-facing with the university student-body. The Vice President for Institutional Enrollment reports directly to the President.


Performance Evaluation Metrics:

Attain annual enrollment targets as set by the University President, comprised of undergrad, master’s, and doctoral students; new and transfer students, and retention of existing students in all classifications, for all campuses, partnerships and programs.



Essential Functions:

  1. Operates and leads with a high level of integrity.
  2. Facilitates all enrollment and retention initiatives by using a rigorous approach to data, best practices, and creating new and novel practices.
  3. Develops and executes strategic and operational enrollment plans that meet or exceed strategic goals and annual targets while ensuring seamlessness across the enrollment and student life-cycle.
  4. Maintains responsible stewardship of university resources and displays this, in part, by exceeding industry benchmarks for resources invested per student enrolled.
  5. Leads in developing and articulating value proposition, key differentiators, and competitive advantages for every university program and the university as a whole, and ensures every university member can articulate these.
  6. Leads the market positioning of the university portfolio and ensures that every differentiator is clearly and properly articulated and that every channel (print and digital) where the university portfolio is displayed does so with the latest and most accurate program and university representation.
  7. Develops and manages relationships with internal (e.g., faculty and departments) and external (e.g., feeder high schools, community colleges, industries and employers) partners to increase the applicant pipeline.
  8. Collaborates to create and disseminate a clear and compelling message to prospective students and families regarding the value proposition of an OLLU education while ensuring consistency of brand and program representation.
  9. Responsible for engaging faculty, staff, senior leadership, alumni, students, and the Board in the recruitment and retention of students and meeting or exceeding annual targets.
  10. Regularly reviews and reports progress toward the annual targets, challenging and ensuring every senior leader fulfills their responsibility while providing the division’s human and financial resources are deployed effectively and efficiently.
  11. Models responsiveness, flexibility, and creativity to challenge self and the university to meet or exceed the annual enrollment targets.
  12. Develops and maintains a rigorous, robust, system of data reporting and analysis to support the entire enrollment efforts and collaborates across the university to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  13. Provides continuous enrollment information and reports to senior leadership, Board, and campus constituents.
  14. Oversees efforts to coordinate and collaborate with units across campus to ensure all aspects of the enrollment funnel are working effectively to meet enrollment targets.
  15. Ensures seamless and swift customer-centered correction of issues affecting any parts regarding the student enrollment process.
  16. Continually assess and revise the university’s systems, processes, and procedures pertaining to enrollment.
  17. Actively and regularly engages stakeholders (e.g., Academic Affairs, departments, and programs) to identify program enrollment targets, and leads them to implementation.
  18. Accepts and fulfills other duties as assigned by the President.

Education and Experience:

  1. Master’s degree required and 5 years of enrollment, sales, customer acquisition and retention, or similar preferred.
  2. Demonstrated success in leveraging analytics to increase enrollment or customer acquisition and retention is required.
  3. Background in program planning, examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures is required.
  4. Advanced analytical, evaluative, or objective critical thinking skills is required.
  5. Ability to swiftly analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions is required.
  6. Demonstrated success in building, developing, and maintaining high-performing teams is required.
