Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) are
responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum
learning environment, responding to student needs, managing
effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills,
demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work
relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college
administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their
instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality
instruction and for effective participation and interest in the
total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this part-time faculty member will be responsible for providing students with instructional training in small engine repair in the Personal and Professional Enrichment Department under the Workforce and Continuing Education Division. This class is designed to help students understand basic to intermediate fundamentals of small engine repair in a way that is engaging, interesting, and relevant. Students will learn how to service small engines found in lawn and garden equipment, snow blowers, or small appliances. Hands-on activities and instruction will introduce students to the basic principles of two cycle and four-cycle engine operation, fuel and exhaust systems, ignition components, lubrication systems, and cooling systems. The faculty member may be assigned to teach at any of the GTCC campuses.

Education Required
- High School Diploma or GED graduate
Experience Required
- Teaching and/or industry training in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars.
- Two-year professional work experience, teaching, or on the job training.
Education Preferred
- Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
- Small Engine Repair Certification
Experience Required
- Two years teaching experience or on-the-job training
- Two years of experience in performing service repairs on small equipment and appliances such as mowing equipment and handheld power tools and equipment.
