New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Academic Recruitment Specialist reporting to Assistant Director, Academic Recruitment.

The Academic Recruitment Specialist in the Office of Academic Appointments provides project coordination support in the hiring of faculty and academic staff at NYUAD across the academic divisions, Library, SM SP/SA, and academic hiring units, and serves as a primary point-of-contact for all stakeholders involved in the recruitment process, including: candidates, administrators, search committees, external advertisers, university leadership, and others across NYU (as needed). In addition to the administrative tasks, the specialist will handle scheduling for search committees and candidates, maintain faculty recruitment records, generate reports academic recruitment reports at each stage of the recruitment process. The specialist must handle recruitment with an experienced level of care to attract the best faculty from around the world join NYUAD



Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with the committee chairs and NYUAD deans and leadership, manage all steps of the full faculty recruitment cycle which include: creating job descriptions and postings, ensuring all documentation is complete and candidates are screened for appropriate qualifications, facilitating review of candidates by committees and deans, managing the closing process including ensuring security clearance process has been initiated and that offers are rendered as agreed
  • Schedule and attend committee meetings and provide expertise and information about best practice in recruitment
  • Manage the faculty recruitment advertisement process and act as initial point of contact to faculty candidates
  • Manage the interview process in Abu Dhabi, manage the virtual interview process, ensure that job talks are videotaped and available for review to committee members who were unable to participate in person
  • Act as liaison between NYUNY and NYUAD to ensure clear and consistent communication
  • Manage recruitment databases as required for open positions
  • Ensure that appropriate academic recruitment reports are up to date and available on all candidates, and searches
  • Track the progress of faculty recruitment process and supply relevant data to key stakeholders
  • Manage the reimbursement process for all candidate visit
  • Keep and provide detailed records of costs and reimbursements, track where candidates are in the pre-offer pipeline stage
  • Manage the Academic Recruitment alias and candidate engagement portals
  • Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the department's activities, policies and programs
  • Interact with the general public as NYU liaison and with University personnel including those at the senior level to resolve issues and problems related to Faculty Recruitment
  • Support the University's commitment to building and strengthening a culture of Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging, Equity and Innovation through supporting initiatives developed to take advantage of opportunities through academic recruitment processes
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
  • Master's Degree in HR
Required Experience:
  • 3+ years of recruitment experience
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Computer/technology proficiency including Microsoft Office applications, applicant tracking tools including Interfolio, HRIS, internet research tools, etc.
  • Proven results in managing high-quality, high-volume work, preferably from higher education or related sectors
  • Demonstrated success in working in an evolving, fast-paced, and ambiguous environment, strategy planning, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Customer focused and process oriented
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently as well as serving as a member of the team
  • Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards
