Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President – Enrollment Management, the Coordinator of Veteran & Military Services is Veteran Affairs (VA) School Certifying Official ( SCO ) for CCM and is responsible for preparing, processing, and certifying VA educational benefits and report student status and eligibility changes to the VA. Includes analyzing reports, compiling enrollment data, submission of enrollment certifications, tracking of benefits certified and changes. Serves as the compliance officer for all veteran student files and liaison from CCM to the State Approving Agency and the VA. Manages auditing requirements in accordance with federal and state regulations. Serves as a point of contact and advocate for all veterans, active-duty members, reservists, and eligible dependents. The coordinator is the primary contact for veterans, supports their recruitment, academic monitoring and retention of veterans, and develops and maintains a network of community, state, and federal partners to provide military-connected students with additional on and off campus resources and support. As CCM’s Center for Veteran’s Services is developed, the coordinator will provide assistance with effectivenss and programming of services in the center.

Certify and update the enrollment of veterans to the VA through the college’s systems and the VA’s Enrollment Manager system and other VA systems, as required by law. Data certified for each veteran includes, but not limited to registration, number of credits, program of study, and completed courses. Provides advising and academic monitoring to veterans to reassure compliance of VA degree/certificate requirements. Complies with ad-hoc VA requests on follow up verification of veterans throughout the academic year.

Maintains veteran services budget, accurate database of information and files for current and former student veterans. Manages veteran reports and data to analyze financial expenses, enrollment, retention, and graduation of veterans.

Serves as liaison between all student veterans (and eligible dependents) with the VA and campus by providing guidance and assistance with accessing their benefits and other campus resources to support their diverse needs (Admissions, Counseling, Tutoring, Accessibility Services, EOF, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Marketing, Career Services, Workforce Development, Records & Registration, Financial Aid, & Bursar).

Develops and maintains a network of support and referral systems for veterans inclusive of community, state, and federal partners to provide additional extended resources and support.

Create and partner with on and off campus resources to implement programs, events, workshops, and seminars on campus for military-connected students to ensure their academic and social adaptation into the college community.

Manage and complete VA annual certification of credit and non-credit academic programs with state approving agency and all required annual VA compliance trainings. Updates annual required Department of Defense ( DOD ) website with college information.

Actively participate in departmental and college activities and committees.

Qualifications - Education

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications - Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience as a School Certifying Official or equivalent experience. Exceptional knowledge of Veteran Affairs Educational Benefits, policies, procedures, and using its varied systems (Enrollment Manager, ArmyIgnitED, PIEE, Navy College Program, Tungsten Network, AI portal, and others). Must have experience working with military active duty and veterans. Strong military service orientation is essential, with situational awareness of issues concerning veterans and their families and to effectively advocate for veteran students on and off campus. Working with diverse college student populations, traditional and non-traditional, is a plus. Veteran preferred.
