The department of Information Technology is organized into five functional departments supporting infrastructure, security, applications, client support, project management and implementation of digital strategies across the campus.

Position Profile



The successful candidate will assist in oversight of the operations of the University's academic computer labs to promote efficient and effective use of the facilities. Provides day-to-day maintenance and support of the academic instructional computer facilities. Assists faculty, staff and students in the use of academic computer software and hardware available in the academic instructional technology classrooms including keeping support documentation up to date.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria



Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:

Education:



Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.

Experience and Training:


  • Four (4) years of experience in current operating system administration, universal image creation and application packaging.
  • Experience in supporting end-users.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to continuously update personal knowledge of cutting-edge technology, identify advances that will enhance the educational environment, and recommend changes in the utilization of technology where appropriate required.
  • Ability to formulate procedures related to this position and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Credentials and/or experience comparable to the above may also be considered.

Ideal Candidate



Preferred


  • A strong understanding of XR technologies and maintenance practices for computer systems using Unity and other AR/VR systems.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues related to AR/VR systems and equipment and develop innovative solutions to improve maintenance practices.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages deploying applications to end point devices.

Compensation and Employee Benefits



The Instructional Technology Specialist is compensated at the Administrator IV salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
