Position Description

The Coordinator of Special Initiatives will support all ministry, communication, and administrative needs within the parameters of the Lilly Compelling Preaching grant and the Lilly Pathways for Tomorrow grant. The Coordinator will support the aforementioned, their respective teams, and the Seminary at large by designing, coordinating, and implementing Kerygma Initiative goals, fulfilling administrative duties, managing grants, representing the seminary as needed, serving as a contributing team member, and by evaluating the strategic activities of the aforementioned.

Position Responsibilities
  • Prays for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Church leaders; participates in communal prayer gatherings.
  • Attends to own personal spiritual care and engages opportunities for continual professional and ministerial development.
  • The Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of the Kerygma Initiative.
  • Coordinate relevant activities including but not limited to new certificate programs, fellowship initiatives, special events, and conferences.
  • Manage, direct, and identify grant funded resources for Palmer Seminary.
  • Communicating with stakeholders and the wider relevant communities.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate at-large and event specific communication strategies and materials, coordinate relevant activities, develop and manage assessment processes, and relevant annual reporting for Lilly Endowment, Inc.
  • Provide administrative and management support for ongoing research initiatives including but not limited to coordinating activities, managing and organizing data, creating and managing communication intrapersonal and meta

Qualifications
  • Alignment and commitment to the mission and vision of Eastern University and Palmer Theological Seminary, as well as a growing vital Christian maturity and spirituality.
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field required
  • Experience with and understanding of leadership dynamics in the context of Christian ministries; 5+ years of ministry and/or academic leadership required
  • Ability to handle confidential information, demonstrated problem solving skills, an ability to innovate and adapt in new situations, and demonstrated cross-cultural competencies are needed
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills in a previous position; competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Suite, basic design software such as Canva or Publisher, and Website management are required
  • Attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, creativity, initiative, flexibility, ability to manage multiple priorities, and the ability to manage projects with minimal direction, are essential characteristics.
