Job Details

The Stephens College of Business at the University of Montevallo invites applications for a full-time Instructor to teach Business Law and serve as Director of the Grainger Center for Professional Development starting in August 2024. This is a non-tenure-track position. Applicants are expected to be versatile, with the ability and willingness to teach a variety of Business Law courses. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and a willingness to teach classes both in-person and online.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Business Law or other courses as assigned by the Dean or the Chair of the Stephens College of Business. This teaching load for this position will be 3/3 (9 credit hours in the fall and 9 credit hours in the spring), with the option to teach summer courses for additional pay subject to course and funding availability. As the Grainger Center Director, candidates will also be expected to assist students in the transition from academics to the business community, which includes helping with resume development, job and internship placement, networking, and interviews. The Director will also plan and deliver events related to the responsibilities of the role.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered, applicants must have earned a Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to applicants who have relevant professional experience related to the legal environment of business; demonstrated excellence in teaching business law at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; have computer proficiency and experience using Canvas; and have experience advising students.

The Stephens College of Business at UM is accredited by AACSB International and offers programs at the undergraduate and MBA levels with an average class size of 21 students.
