Job Duties
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implement course coordination and instruction of didactic and clinical courses using teaching best practices.
- Pursue research funding and grant opportunities that support the MSUDoN’s mission to enhance social justice, diversity, innovation, and health equity in nursing and in healthcare.
- Supervise students’ and faculty laboratory and clinical work; evaluate and grade students’ class work, laboratory and clinical work assignments and papers.
- Have knowledge of MSUDoN Student Handbook, Faculty Handbook, Maryland COMAR regulations, and nursing program academic policies.
- Develop and/or maintain nursing and healthcare-focused research program(s).
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
- Assess clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs utilizing a variety of methods.
- Compile, administer and grade examinations.
- Advise students on academic and vocational curricula and career issues.
- Maintain student attendance, records, grades and other required records.
- Establish regular office hours (face to face and remotely) at least three days per week in order to advise and assist students.
- Participate actively in interdepartmental Committees and professional nursing organization(s).
- Develop and present work in areas of specialty. Maintain a record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals/articles.
- Participate in Nursing Program specific activities specific to successful achievement of program approval ( MBON ) and accreditation.
- Maintain clinical practice hours, in addition to required continuing education training and professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
The successful candidate must have achieved a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Doctorate in Nursing or other related field from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must hold a current or be eligible for an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice nursing in Maryland, Washington, D.C., or a compact state.
- Must have strong expertise in Nursing Education and a demonstrated record of clinical expertise. Experience with assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes is required. Expertise in primary care throughout the lifespan stages is required
- Teaching experience and evidence of an active record of scholarship and service at the program, department, and university levels preferred.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Applications, and/or any other related technical programs.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with didactic experience in the main area of teaching at the collegiate level.
- Experience with total program evaluation and accreditation is also preferred.
