The UNF School of Communication seeks an individual to teach and develop courses in Multimedia Journalism. We seek applicants who can teach some of the following: applied journalism, advanced writing for the media, multimedia reporting; news writing; social media for journalists; media literacy, magazine writing, data journalism/visualization; investigative journalism; and communication management. Applicants should be experienced with some of the following: social media, analytics, content management systems. The successful applicant should also demonstrate the ability to cultivate strong ties with the professional journalism community in order to create partnerships with media outlets so students can gain hands-on journalism experience in their courses. In addition to teaching and service, the position requires an active agenda of scholarly activity.

 

The position begins in August 2022, and applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Journalism/Communication/Mass Communication (or a closely related field) by that date. Applicants must also present evidence of an active program of scholarship, have university-level teaching experience and professional journalism experience.

The School of Communication’s B.S. in Communication is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. The 700 students in the bachelor of science degree select one of four professionally oriented concentrations: Advertising, Multimedia Journalism, Digital Video Production, and Public Relations. The School also has a Master of Science degree in Communication Management and a B.A. in Communication Studies. Jacksonville is the 14th largest city in America and is a dynamic top-50 media market. The School enjoys excellent relations with communication professionals in Northeast Florida. UNF is a nationally ranked university located on an environmentally beautiful campus. UNF is 10 miles from downtown Jacksonville and 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful beaches.
