Job Summary

As a job placement coordinator, you will play an important role in empowering students to seamlessly transition from college to the workforce. This position involves collaborating with student, faculty and local employers to facilitate career development initiatives and secure meaningful job placements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Student Engagement and Counseling :
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with students within assigned programs to understand their career goals, interests, and skills.
  • Provide personalized career counseling and guidance to students on job search strategies, and interview preparation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
GOAL : Establish contact with a minimum of 300 students per quarter, either individually or in group/workshop setting.
Measurement : Document and maintain a record of all individual student interactions, including counseling sessions, workshops and outreach efforts.

Student Training and Development:
  • Create and carry out workshops to enhance students’ job-seeking skills, including networking strategies, interview preparation and resume writing.
  • Deliver targeted training programs aimed at developing students’ soft skills, industry-specific competencies and other job-related skills to improve marketability.
GOAL : Develop and deliver a series of at least 5 workshops over the course of a semester that focus on interview skills, soft skills, networking, resume building and industry-specific competencies to better prepare students for successful entry into the workforce. These can be conducted in collaboration with other coordinators.
Measurement: Increase the average self-reported confidence level of participating students in their job readiness skills by 20% as measured by pre-and post-workshop surveys.

Employer Outreach and Relationship Building:
  • Research and identify potential employers to expand the network of job opportunities for students.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with employers through regular communication, networking events, and visits.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to understand industry needs and align student skills with employer requirements.
GOAL: Conduct outreach to employers each quarter to expand the network of job opportunities
Measuremen t: Maintain a log of employer interactions, including emails, calls, and face-to-face meetings, to track engagement and relationships development.

Placement Metrics and Reporting :
  • Establish and maintain a tracking system for student placements.
  • Generate regular reports on the number of student contacts, follow-up activities, and employer outreach efforts.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and success stories.
Measurement: Calculate the percentage of students who secured employment 30, 60 and 90 days from graduation, out of the total number of students seeking job placement.
Supervisory Responsibilities and Progress Reporting:
  • Oversee the daily activities and progress of 5 (total) student assistants.
  • Serve as mentor and assist them in their professional development, including internship responsibilities.
  • Conduct annual performance review for all student assistants.
  • Generate and submit a comprehensive progress report on all placement related activities by the 30th of each month and annually by December 15th of each year.
  • Provide support to Director on annual budget, assessment planning and data collection and general purchases, expenditure processing and documentation.
  • Assist Associate Director of Internships in the vetting of all employers prior to their profile being submitted into LHCC and NeoEd.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education
  • Bachelor's degree Required.
  • Master’s degree Preferred.
  • Background in career services, job placement, student affairs or another related field.
