    Department Summary
    The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) promotes academic excellence, universal access, engagement and achievement for the student scholar. UESS programs focus on the educational trajectory of the student by providing opportunities and services essential for progress toward scholastic objectives and intellectual development. UESS departments and programs serve the entire population of UO undergraduate students and partner closely with other campus units to support student success and engagement.

    The Accessible Education Center (AEC) facilitates and supports access and inclusion for students with disabilities. The AEC coordinates services, determines student accommodations, provides advocacy and collaborates with students, faculty, staff and the community to create and sustain accessible physical, curricular, and informational environments.

    Position Summary
    The AEC Accommodation Programs Manager reports directly to the Assistant Vice Provost, works closely with the Assistant Director, and has primary responsibility for managing the effective operation of accommodations, consistent with institutional compliance responsibilities.

    In addition, this position has significant responsibility for the operations, including expanded implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of AEC's information management system, AEC Connect. This specialized portal-based database program (AIM) is designed to ensure that students with disabilities are efficiently provided reasonable and appropriate accommodations. This position provides overall oversight and support to colleagues who coordinate a range of accommodations through AEC Connect. This includes, testing, interpreting, notetaking, alternate formats, and notification letters to faculty. This position oversees day-to-day management of these systems and works with the product vendor to troubleshoots issues and stay up to date on changes. This position supervises the Assistant Accommodations Coordinator, and the selection and training process for test proctors.

    This position requires regular interaction with both undergraduate and graduate students, faculty/staff, and collaboration with key university partners. This position requires high levels of sensitivity and cultural awareness, the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment and exercise creative problem-solving.

    As an active member of the AEC team, the Programs Manager actively participates in AEC initiatives and outreach activities that foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.

    The Programs Manager must be able to work with diverse students presenting with a range of disability experiences and demonstrate respect for all individuals. The manager must exhibit professionalism and collegiality in a team environment, and the ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, accessible and professional atmosphere in the office. This person must exhibit cultural humility and agility, with the ability and commitment to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

    Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience tracking large amounts of data and overseeing program operations.
  • Experience with program or project management, including overseeing and coordinating complicated program operations.

    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues facing diverse groups (e.g. low-socioeconomic, first generation, students with disabilities, underrepresented students of color, non-traditional, and under-prepared individuals).
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, detail oriented and time sensitive environment.
  • Diligently attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Utilizes professional judgment and recognizes situations that warrant initiative and moves forward without hesitation; resolving issues, problems, or situations.
  • Ability to anticipate next steps and execute independently.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (or similar). Ability to produce professional correspondence, documents, data reports, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of universal/inclusive design concepts and experience with implementation.
  • Working knowledge of ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
    Demonstrated ability to summarize, compile and interpret student data and reports.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Familiarity with the Accessible Information Management database management system designed for disability services offices.
  • Experience with the coordination of services and/or scheduling of service providers.
  • Basic understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Experience navigating boundary setting conversations.
  • Supervision experience.
  • Experience designing training materials and facilitating workshops.
  • Familiarity with the use of technology and assistive equipment to facilitate communication access, and equal access in testing situations.
