Position Overview

The Sport Programs Intern will assist the Assistant Director of Sports Programs in the administration and management of all operational and programming aspects of a comprehensive intramural sports program as well as in the administration of student-run sport clubs. Some of the responsibilities will include supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating student staff, leadership development, risk management, facility and event management, administrative support, maintenance of records, and communication/collaboration with student, university, and community organizations and individuals.

This is a part-time position with a tentative start date of August 2024.

The Office of Recreation & Wellness creates a foundation of well-being by providing exceptional, inclusive, and innovative programs, services, and facilities for the Butler community to enhance the student experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the administration and management of individual, dual, and team Intramural Sports activities.
  • Develop schedules for leagues and tournaments, rules revisions, and program evaluations.
  • Assist with Sport Club program management, organization, and compliance.
  • Coordinate the management, supervision, scheduling, training, and evaluation of Sport Programs Staff.
  • Assist with risk management initiatives and the implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Supervision of Intramural and Sport Clubs activities during the Fall and Spring semester.
  • Assist with the evaluation, documentation, and oversight of shared facilities
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 1-2 years of campus recreation and/or sports programming related experience, sports officiating experience preferred
  • Current certified in CPR/AED/First AID through the American Red Cross, or able to get certified within 30-days of start date
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and projects
  • Be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
  • Display effective communication skills to engage with faculty, staff, students, and the Butler community
  • Ability to utilize basic office equipment and technology including basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and Google Workspace applications
Position Information
  • Pay Scale: $15/hour
  • Hours: 30 hours/week
  • Commitment: 1 year agreement (2+ years contingent upon successful evaluation at the end of year 1)
  • Anticipated Start Date: August 2024
  • Reports to: Assistant Director of Sports Programming
