Position Description Summary/Purpose :
Provide neuromusculoskeletal medicine patient care for both acute and chronic pain conditions at Federally Qualified Health Centers and Community Health Centers (hereafter Facility) while training and supervising Chiropractic Residents and students. Maintain patient records and prepare documentation for Medicaid and Medicare or other patient billing, where permissible, and assign to Facility for processing. Work closely with Facility medical and administrative staff and University supervisors to provide high quality patient care and excellent clinical training. Regularly evaluate and document Resident and student performance and assess outcomes. Participate in and/or support research and scholarship. Demonstrate leadership with regard to the expanding role of chiropractic physicians within Federally Qualified Health Centers and Community Health Centers and the University of Bridgeport policies, handbooks, and agreements, as well as applicable laws.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

- Maintain patient charts and other data, billing records, and time sheets and submit to FQHC and/or University (as applicable) in a timely manner as required by FQHC, federal and state law, and University policy. Upon request, provide all information and records required for Medicare, Medicaid or insurance carrier billing, assign all patient billing to FQHC, and cooperate with regard to FQHC’s submission of billing to Medicare/Medicaid or private carrier. Comply with Medicaid, Medicare and other pertinent laws and regulations, and supervise resident’s and student’s compliance.
- Attain and maintain credentialing with assigned Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
- Responsible for the evaluation and management of patients and direct supervision of patient care as administered by chiropractic students and neuromusculoskeletal medicine residents at FQHC/community health centers and hospitals.
- Ensures that the patient electronic health care record is current and properly documented.
- Complete satisfactorily all education requirements by FQHC.
- Attend and participate at FQHC medical staff meetings.
- Submit monthly patient statistics and hourly time sheets by the third day of the following month to the program director.
- Attend and participate at regular meetings with chiropractic residents.
- Attend and present at neuromusculoskeletal medicine (NMSM) continuing education programs.
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
- Ability to perform a differential diagnosis when patients present painful conditions.
- Capable of evaluating and patients presenting with painful neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
- Provide evidence-based and patient-centered non-pharmacological treatments at the level of an expert.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications :
Education, Training and Experience :
- Licensed as a chiropractic physician in the State of assigned FQHC.
- Board Certified in Chiropractic Orthopedics or Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (or in process).
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience.
- Strong interest in community health and chiropractic education.
- Previous teaching experience in a professional program or postgraduate (Preferred)
- Published in peer reviewed journals (Preferred).
- Meets credentialing requirements of Federally Qualified Health Center (offer of employment contingent upon credentialing).
- Valid driver’s license & insured vehicle
