About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities: The candidate will participate as part of an interdisciplinary research team directed by Leila Deravi at the Innovation Campus at Burlington, MA (ICBM) campus of Northeastern University. They will be expected to contribute to the integration of small molecules, pigments, binders, and carrier fluids to produce custom-designed formulations for large-area spray-processable coatings. The candidate is expected to generate, analyze, and consolidate their findings in regular research updates/reports. The appointment is for one year and may be extended pending regular progress evaluation.

Qualifications:
  • BS degree in chemistry, materials science/engineering or related field (M.S. preferred)
  • Strong technical expertise and demonstrated independence in design and execution of experiments.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong background and proven track record in analytical chemistry and familiarity with synthesizing small molecules, polymers, or nanoparticles and characterizing their optical performance.
  • A basic understanding of formulation design for coatings including their characterization will be required.
  • Experience in thin film manufacturing using spray coating techniques would be a bonus.
