REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning, Camp Director

This position is responsible for the medical needs of campers and staff during an 8-week summer camp program for ages 5-13. The Nurse will act as the camp’s Medical Director and have final say regarding someone attending camp in the morning and will take pride in the health and safety of campers and staff. The Camp Nurse will work closely with the Camp Director.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Quickly assesses medical situations and takes care of injuries that may occur.
  2. Keeps the Camp Director informed of any serious medical issues.
  3. Administers medication or epi pens if needed, keep accurate records/logs, file and organizes children’s medical records, keeps track of medical supplies, and replenishes when needed.
  4. Communicates with parents, staff, and campers on a regular basis.
  5. Works with other staff and acts as one of the lead people during camper morning arrival.
  6. Follows CDC and NJ Board of Health and College guidance regarding COVID-19.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • New Jersey Registered Nurse
  • Two years of experience
  • Able to think quick and make important decisions for well-being of students and staff regarding medical care
  • Experience and familiarity with COVID-19 safeguards and precautions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years of experience
  • Current School or Camp Nurse
  • Experience working with children ages 5-13


SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:


SCHEDULE: June 24, 2024, to August 16, 2024 (No camp on July 4 or July 5)

One temporary, full-time position covering 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or two temporary part-time positions, with these shifts available:

Position 1: 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Position 2: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
