Director of Graduate Admissions

St. Thomas University, a dynamic and forward-thinking institution located in Miami Gardens, FL, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Director of Graduate Admissions. As the Director, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our graduate programs by leading and executing comprehensive admissions strategies to attract and enroll a diverse and talented pool of graduate students, while managing a team of admissions counselors, collaborating with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, and Director of Enrollment Operations, and the Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement a strategic enrollment management plan for graduate admissions in alignment with the university's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to understand program offerings, market demand, and industry trends to enhance recruitment strategies.

Admissions Operations:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the graduate admissions office, ensuring efficient and effective processing of applications.
  • Collaborate with the director of undergraduate admissions and team to ensure all prospective students are welcomed and given proper guidance and support.
  • Implement and maintain technology solutions to streamline admissions processes and enhance the applicant experience.

Recruitment and Outreach:

  • Devise and execute targeted recruitment initiatives to attract a diverse and high-achieving pool of graduate students.
  • Represent the university at recruitment events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote graduate programs.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster strong collaboration with academic departments, faculty, and other university stakeholders to ensure a seamless admissions process.
  • Effectively communicate admission requirements, program details, and university policies to prospective students.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize the data provided to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and make data-driven decisions to optimize admissions processes.
  • Collaborate on report generation for admissions metrics, applicant demographics, and enrollment trends for university leadership.

Financial Aid Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the financial aid office to ensure a smooth transition from admissions to financial aid processes for admitted students.

Assist in developing and implementing financial aid strategies to support enrollment goals.

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Provide excellent customer service to prospective students, guiding them through the admissions process and addressing inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinating and facilitating of on-campus and off-campus recruitment events for St. Thomas University and promote the school to potential graduate students. This could involve campus tours, traveling to other universities or career fairs to provide students with information about their academics, campus life, and assisting in the creation of marketing materials and website content.


  • Bachelor’s degree: Master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in admissions, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with enrollment management CRMs and data analytics.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in graduate admissions and higher education.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • The candidate is required to be mobile and occasionally lift and/or move to 40-50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Expected to work occasional early/late evening events, and weekend.


  • Traveling to college campuses or events in the tri-county area. Will assist admissions counselors with events and college fairs when needed.

Other duties as assigned.
