DEPARTMENT: Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning, Camp Director

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position assists the Camp Director in an 8-week, fast-paced summer college camp program for children ages 5-13.

  1. Assists Camp instructors with running activities, supervising play and lunch, and directing campers throughout the day, especially during drop off and dismissal.
  2. Motivates children to participate in age-appropriate activities.
  3. Ensures campers are safe and follow policies and procedures.
  4. Communicates with direct supervisor and program director regarding potential hazards, concerns, or incidents that may need follow-up.
  5. Assists where needed.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to communicate well and work with a variety of ages and skill levels
  • Friendly, caring, and outgoing personality along with the energy and stamina needed to work with kids
  • Reliable and responsible individual

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience caring for and supervising children
  • Education, Psychology, and Social work majors
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions
  • Strong proactive problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to handle diverse responsibilities and multi-task
  • Ability to deal positively with a diverse population


SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:



Eight (8) part-time, seasonal positions available


SCHEDULE:
June 24, 2024 to August 16, 2024 (No camp on July 4 or July 5)
Monday through Friday, with hours typically 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-min unpaid break
