Job Description

Health, Counseling, and Disability Access Services are seeking a Nurse Practitioner at an active and inclusive university health center. University Health Services is an ambulatory care clinic staffed by health care providers who collaborate with physicians from various disciplines. The department and its staff are committed to providing integrated and culturally sensitive medical, mental health, health promotion and public health services for the University’s diverse student body.

Job Duties Include:
  • Deliver primary care services to UMSL students emphasizing the promotion of health and the prevention of disease. Inherent in this role is independence and autonomy of practice within the framework of established guidelines.
  • Conduct focused health history and performs physical examination as indicated by patient's reason for visit.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Identify and manage common-health problems, both acute and chronic in accordance with approved guidelines.
  • Prescribe a variety of modalities to treat illness and meet wellness needs including, but not limited to medications, nutrition, exercise, and traditional nursing treatment.
  • Consult with collaborative physicians in planning for client care and makes referrals to other disciplines as indicated.
  • Serve on relevant HCDAS and/or University committees as appropriate.
The successful candidate will be an experienced medical provider who possesses strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills; a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, campus partners, and student groups; have a commitment to actively engage in practice with diverse populations (racial/ethnic, LGBTQ+, ability, gender, SES, and beyond); and interpersonal flexibility with a sense of humor.

Shift

The position is part-time at 24 hrs/week. Health Services is open Monday – Friday from 8 am – 5 pm

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Licensure as required for position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program. Current licensure as an APRN in Missouri. Current BCLS certification required. Comfort using an EMR system. Must maintain current licensure and all certifications during duration of employment
  • One year of experience in ambulatory health care, preferably with experience in the areas of psychiatric care and family planning/STI concerns
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, competence in working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Enthusiastic support for, and demonstrated experience in, an integrated practice model of care is essential.
  • Highly effective and demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills that allow for effective interaction with clients, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and other medical and mental health care providers.
  • Ability to support and motivate clinical and administrative support staff.
  • Ability to carry out complex administrative tasks to include decision making, planning, problem solving, negotiation, resource allocation, and change management
  • Must be able to take initiative, operate independently, and be comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: Pay range: $50-$55 per hour.
Grade: GGS-13
