About the Department:

The mission of Mason Police is to provide a safe and secure environment for all university employees, students, and guests. Embracing the principles of community policing, Mason Police works collaboratively with academic and administrative units, individuals, and organizations in furtherance of the mission of the University.

About the Position:

Mason Police Special Operations, Research, and Training (SORT) division is seeking an organized and proactive Administrative Assistant with excellent written and verbal communication skills to join our team. The ideal candidate is efficient, self-motivated, detailed-oriented, and skilled in developing and maintaining workplace relationships. Possesses the ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others. Presents a positive, professional image and attitude for the agency, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities:
  • Data management;
  • Maintain and improve filing systems as SORT moves to a digital storage/filing system; and
  • Manage finances and maintains a state issued credit card.
Required Qualifications:
  • Computer proficiency;
  • Familiarity with standard office platforms and cloud-based systems;
  • Expertise with office productivity suites such as Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office;
  • Data management and entry skills including the ability to maintain and improve filing systems as we move to a digital storage/filing system;
  • Ability to manage finances and maintain a state issued credit card;
  • Ability to pass a basic background investigation, credit assessment, and motor vehicle record check; and
  • Ability to lift or push up to 20lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • U.S. military Veteran or Veteran’s spouse;
  • Experience working in public safety;
  • Prior experience as an administrative assistant; and
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
