Additional Job Description:
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Pediatrics Department seeks a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice pediatric critical care in our pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (CICU). In addition to providing excellent patient care, he or she will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency, and accredited critical care and/or cardiology fellowship programs. The successful candidate must be board certified / eligible in pediatric critical care and/or cardiology. Preference will be given to candidates who are dually trained in Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Critical Care or have one year of additional training in pediatric cardiac critical care medicine. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care center for the state of West Virginia, Western Maryland, Southwestern Pennsylvania, as well as Southeastern Ohio. We have West Virginia’s only cardiothoracic surgery program and offer surgical interventions for the full range of congenital heart defects, including complex single ventricle neonates through adults with congenital heart disease. We have a robust ECMO program with dedicated pediatric perfusionists to support cardiac and non-cardiac diseases.
Our new 150 bed Children’s Hospital includes dedicated cardiac operating rooms, a hybrid cardiac EP and interventional catheterization lab, and dedicated pediatric cardiac anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, the only level 4 NICU in the state, a dedicated Cancer Institute, a Pediatric Emergency Department with Rapid Care, and dedicated PICU and CICU services. WVU Medicine Children’s is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Birthing Center houses a 30-bed obstetrical unit and the maternal-fetal medicine clinic. WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
