Job Summary/Basic Function

This position is an integral function in support of the University’s mission and Academic Affairs focus on academic persistence, bolstering retention rates and degree completion. Responsibilities include day to day implementation of retention programming in support of Undergraduate Student Success Center’s retention plan for first year, transfer, probation and second year students. Implementing student centered educational and social development programming and teaching Undergraduate Success Seminar. In addition, the position supports a robust integrated approach connecting work efforts with all units within Undergraduate Student Success Center: Offices of First Year Experience, Academic Coaching and Advising and the Academic Support and Instructional Services. This is a one year contractual position, with option for renewal based on job performance.

• Manage a cohort of students, with the identified retention outcomes;
• Facilitate and implement a prescriptive holistic intervention plan;
• Work with academic and faculty advisors, residential life, and other student services units to ensure students are receiving applicable academic and social interventions;
• Review Early Alert Reports and suggest recommendations in conjunction with Academic Advising;
• Coordinate and implement special projects aligned with University’s compelling priorities;
• Teach Undergraduate Success Seminar USS 1000 course;
• Facilitate processes with cohort groups to walk them through the university’s enrollment clearance process;
• Create connections with students during the pre-enrollment period to include, but not limited to engagement via the Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (S.O.A.R.) Program;
• Serve a part of the planning and implementation committee for Pirate Week Orientation activities;
• Maintain accurate records and data tracking mechanism of students in cohort;
• Develop and implement a robust communication plan to facilitate outreach with student cohort;
• Assess institutional data and make recommendations for retention planning and implementation
• Assist in maintaining compliance of the Title III program grant;
• Participate on University’s sub-committee(s) and ad hoc committee(s) when required;
• Create informal engagement opportunities to aid with student retention through participation in student-based activities by serving as a mentor/advisor to key student groups;
• Participate in student affairs and enrollment management programs during evenings and weekends;
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

 Education:
o Master’s degree plus two to three years of relevant higher education, preferred

 Must have professional experience working with college-aged population
 Must be proficient in MS Office and Internet.
 Experience with banner student information system desired.
 Experiences with designing, planning, developing programs and measuring outcomes for student services in an academic setting.
 The ideal candidate must have excellent written, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, in addition to superior customer service abilities
 Demonstrated ability to multitask and work autonomously.
 Must be able to maintain discretion in confidential matters.
 Evening and weekend hours required.
