Job Details

The Health Systems Management and Policy Division (HSMP) within the School of Public Health (SPH) at the University of Memphis invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program. This is a full-time, nine-month tenured/tenure track position.

The MHA Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) and is nationally ranked. The MHA degree is offered both on campus and entirely online. The program is housed within the SPH which is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

The successful candidate will be responsible for administrative functions of the MHA Program under the direction of the HSMP Division Director. As a tenured/tenure-track faculty member, the candidate will be expected to conduct research and seek external research funding. Other duties and responsibilities include teaching in the MHA program, mentoring program students, and serving on committees to further develop, support, and enhance the HSMP Division and the SPH.

Candidates for the position must hold an earned doctorate degree in health systems management and policy or a closely related field at the time of employment. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate: (a) academic leadership experience and familiarity with CAHME; (b) teaching experience or demonstrated potential for success in teaching MHA courses; (c) ability to engage in research and scholarly activities as evidenced by publication in refereed journals and external funding; and (d) ability to work collaboratively and build MHA program partnerships within the community.

In addition to the MHA program, the CEPH-accredited School of Public Health ( offers Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees with concentrations in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Urban Health, and Social and Behavioral Sciences, as well as a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biostatistics. The SPH also offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, and PhD programs in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and in Social and Behavioral Health.
